[Well! Rue can not claim to be an expert at this kind of dance, but if they are simply feeling the groove and doing as Donnie would, they think they can make something happen.]
Here.
[They hold out a paw, waiting for Casey to slide his hand against theirs.]
Try to move to the beat of the music. It hardly matters how you move as long as you do it in time with the song.
[It is only the two of them, so there's no one to laugh or call them cringe, so prepare for your mother to get down. With his hand in their paw, Rue gives Casey a little twirling spin before swaying to the beat with a laugh.]
[Casey furrows his brows at first, but the spin catches him with a smile, and after observing them for a moment he begins to sway in tandem with them, rocking experimentally back and forth as he tries to remember how Uncle Tello might have done it. He sort of... moved his arms? Bobbed his head?
[Peter has to think about it, and the longer he dwells the more actively uncomfortable he becomes. His breath shakes slightly as he bites the inside of his cheek harshly.
He manages to type a proper description after a moment. Something Rue can actually work from. A tall, slender fae with gaunt features, white swept back hair, broad shoulders, and oddly small eyes on his face.]
He, they? idk... said my name like made me sit? At least when Leo was with me in the forest, then wave goodbye before he took me with him.
[Rue is memorizing every detail, committing it to memory, so that the moment they find this fae, they will know exactly who he is. The one who took Rue's son's name.]
Oh Peter. I'm so very sorry. That must have been so very terrifying.
And I am sorry I keep asking you questions, but I must know. How do you feel now? Since you returned? Has anything been unusual?
[He doesn't know what's happening but he's kind of? Into it? Just gonna do Uncle Tello proud by dancing weirdly on his metaphorical grave. Wobbling a little bit with criss-crossed feet.]
[Is it really wrong to use Leo's hurt as a means to keep Peter safe in this moment? Rue is just going to have to dip into the court of wonder's half-truths that they grew up in.]
Then I think it might be better for you to simply stay with him, Peter. You know not having you in his sight while he's recovering might bring him undue stress.
Whatever you need from outside of the apartments, I am happy to fetch it. Otherwise, you should stay inside, so you aren't too far if Leo needs you.
Rue, you live really far away. It'd be easier if I just walked down to the market. You have other stuff to do, and you're still working on getting better.
Leo's brothers are also here a lot, same with Casey and Hunter. He's not alone even if I step out for a bit.
Thanks. [ It should be illegal for someone to be so nice all the time. Unless that's kid gloves in which case it should be illegal anyway.
This is the whole problem with non-villain, non-dad adults. How's he supposed to figure them out? Like, what's the situation here??
Raph tilts his head and squints at Rue like they have the face equivalent of a puzzle cube, treading the line somewhere between suspicious and gravely serious. ]
When you told me Donnie "stepped out" after what happened to Leo. Did you already know what he stepped out for?
[Ah, they had wondered if this would come back up.
Rue accepts that squint without missing a beat, their head tipping to the side owlishly, but their expression just as open and inviting as ever. They do not mind the interrogation, because there is little they've ever done that they will not stand behind.]
He did not tell me, no, though I felt as if I could sense his intentions. Donnie is not always the easiest to read, but he went so quiet, besides asking me to remain with Leo and to wait for you. It was simply a feeling I had.
