[He won't be left waiting for very long before Rue swings the front door open and inches out of the way for Rodney to enter.]

Even under these circumstances, I am most pleased to see you again my friend. Pray, come in and relax with me. And we can drink in the memory of our friends.

[It's a little clumsy but heartfelt and he holds up the cans and the bottle as he shuffles inside.]

Wasn't sure if you'd like white or red so I bought a rosé which I personally hate so it's all for you. Unless you don't like it either. In which case there is this place that delivers bottles. If you buy a pizza, that is, you can... you order a pizza and can also pick some wine from the menu. It's probably terrible but it's red or white if you prefer that. I can eat the pizza and you have the wine. If you don't like this one. But maybe you do. Or maybe you like the beer which would be easiest because then we can just get more beer.

[He sets down the sixpack, then looks around the apartment.]

You're by yourself? Where's your, uh, do you say husband in the fae world or would it be goblinband, like, what's the terminology...

[Even with the heavy fog of sorrow surrounding them, there is just something about the abrupt jolt of Rodney's relentless, awkward energy that draws a fond chuckle from the owlbear as their friend sweeps inside, talking at a mile-a-minute, fast enough that Rue can hardly keep up. Wine and beer and pizza and - oh, it doesn't matter. Not really. What matters most is that they are together here and now, missing the ones who are not with them.

Rue hardly gets a chance to answer about the beer before Rodney unceremoniously asks about Hob. His absence still hurts more than anything else Rue has ever experienced, but at least they don't burst into messy tears any longer. And if nothing else, 'goblinband' is just about the best word they've ever heard. They'll hold onto it.

Hob will laugh about it later.]

Husband is correct, thank you. And he is, ah, indisposed for the moment. He should be back soon enough. [They keep telling themself.]

But please, I would love to keep the rosé, thank you, though I think I'll try the beer along with you, just to see what all of the fuss is about. Should I order a pizza too? That goes well with beer, doesn't it?
