[Rue's just going to grab the blanket on the back of the couch to throw over their laps, so they can cuddle in close and peer down over Leo's shoulder while he scrolls.]
Two dramas at once! I may faint! ...And yet, I might not mind starting another as long as I may borrow your strength.
Yeah! They're all for you. I wouldn't blame you if you got sick of them or anything though.
[Peter doesn't want to exactly over-do the whole thing with everyone.] You can dip them in tzatziki sauce, apple sauce or sour cream, or have them with a meal. They're a good side.
[Peter, look at Rue! They are bear-sized. They will eat this entire container in one sitting and still be hungry.]
I doubt it! They have such a lovely flavor all on their own, even before adding different dipping sauces I'm certain I won't get tired of them. Here - [Let Rue just pluck the container out of Peter's hands so they can set it aside, in favor of hugging the teen in thanks instead.]
[Peter blinks a little at the container being taken from him and set aside, not that his surprise lasts all that long. He readily shifts so he can hug Rue back, just leaning into the Owlbear with a little exhale. Someone maybe needed a hug.
He draws back only slightly to smile at Rue.]
You say that now, but Casey and I are going to make some together. So there will be even more.
[Tony is really losing points SO quickly with Rue.
Thankfully, Rue's attention is on Peter fully right now. There is no room to fume over that man, not when their son is struggling in their arms. Their paw pets over his hair, attempting to soothe this poor boy's hurts.]
Oh love, you were a child. One mistake does not mean you deserved any of what happened to you. Do you remember the words that you shared with Leo? When he spoke of his own mistake that led to the future that Casey was from?
Call it a holdover of a rough past couple of, uh... .... ....... years... but Raph kinda assumed he'd run into pushback and have to keep trying to explain himself until he got too frustrated and had to leave or something.
Maybe that's because anytime he has a conversation like this it's with one of his brothers, and they're the way that little brothers are about most stuff. Frustrating and strange feral beasts... dark creatures who choose to speak to him in cursive when the best tool he's got is all-caps print.
Yet here he stands getting the "I hear you" from Rue and an extremely good hug to boot. This is unprecedented. ]
What, really? [ They just get it??? Does that happen in real life?
If Raph feels guilty about taking up valuable hug energy real estate when he knows full well he should be at the bottom of the "needs comfort or taking care of" list out of everybody right now, that's between him and Pizza Supreme. He's hugging back after a beat anyway, because he really wants a hug right now. ]
[He's angrily rubbing at his eyes, just trying to put a proverbial cap on his reaction.]
...I told him it wasn't his fault. [He mumbles back quietly.] Leo was trying to save the world, I decided to ignore what I was supposed to do to go on summer vacation with my class.
If crying in frustration over silly things deserved punishment, I would still be grounded to this day!
[It hurts their heart to hear him say 'dumb stuff' when it is clearly something he loved, but Rue is not looking to turn this conversation sad. Not today.]
[He huffs a little at that.] I don't think anyone could ground you even if they wanted to, Rue.
I had really bad asthma. Overexerting myself made it hard for me to breath. Even with an inhaler or being careful, it was hard. After I dropped dance, I started building lego sets instead inside.
[Extracting himself from the silly dance, he returns to the dresser to check on the candle - still doing fine - and fishes a notebook from one of the drawers, flipping through to reach the gala dance notes, which he offers out to Rue. They'll find a couple of pages of little stick figure diagrams doing several numbered dance moves in sequence, with notes about how some dances go from one number to the next. It's quite detailed; he was definitely paying attention.]
It would be such fun, don't you think? A chance to get back into something you loved so dearly as a child! Think of how much better your coordination must be as a young adult too. You're already so strong, so that kind of strength would only benefit you as you learned.
Oh, I- I guess it could be? [He's trying to think of when or how he would fit dance back into his schedule. It wouldn't really be hard. He has time here.] I dance sometimes, but just for fun with Leo or at a party.
The owlbear blinks owlishly at the beginnings of that ramble, not at all sure how it's going to play out, but after only a moment, Rue is laughing softly to themself, smiling down at the stranger on the other side of the relic.]
Well, I would certainly hate to let Fenris' good opinion of me down. It's a pleasure, Sarajane Hawke. My name is Delloso de la Rue, but I'm certain Fenris has already let you know that Rue is just fine.
