Ambience, darling. [just a gentle correction] You know I trust you, Leo. I am just very meticulous in my planning and this event in particular means something to me.
[Carefully composed or not, he has to SEE the fight taking place inside of them. Giving anyone even a piece of control has been absolutely unheard of their entire career. It took Wuvvy centuries to build up that kind of trust with Rue that they would let her take over projects that Rue had already planned out completely.
But Leo is asking to help. And though that word is not Rue's favorite when used in this context, they know his intention is not to hurt them or ruin the party. He wants to help, to be involved in something that is important to Rue.
Don't be offended with the way they have to actively push out a breath and force their body to relax.]
Alright. You're right. It would not be fair of me to say I trust you only to micromanage you anyway. I do trust you. So, you may take care of the music. Without needing my approval.
[He does see it. And while a part of him immediately wants to backtrack - he gets when something is important, he gets when someone is so set in ways that letting go of any inch is difficult. But then Rue says they trust him.
They can likely see when those words hit, theo pen wonder on his face before he schools it back.]
I won't let you down.
...and I am still going to make an entrance as Santa with small stuff for everyone.
And though he's, well, still upside down, Rue does lean in to peck a kiss to the end of his nose. They know he won't let him down. Their hesitation was never about him, it's just their own desperate need for control.]
Oh! I had almost forgotten. That's going to be so darling. You have everything you need?
It's yours! Of course you may. Even better to make sure there's no alterations you'd like. I kept it very basic, but you know me. If you'd like to bedazzle it, I wouldn't be at all opposed.
I didn't wanna suggest bedazzling your hard beautiful work, but if you're offering-
[He smiles and heads the direction they pointed, to the back where clearly only the most trusted of models can venture. Or family. Or just super amazing awesome turtle customers. Whichever Rue wants to count him as.]
I'm sure it'll be beautiful no matter what you do.
[he's such a nerd, it's just their craft room omg!! as if leo does not have free rein of their cottage already!]
You're correct, but I'll still add points for the flattery. And please, there are very few things in this world that do not look improved with rhinestones.
[Just going to guide him back to the craft room. It's more cleared out than normal, mostly because Rue has moved most of their sewing supplies to the shop, but they still have more than enough to embellish a santa suit. And just as they promised, when they pull said suit out, it is perfectly replicated from any hallmark movie version of santa, from the white, furry trim to the black, buckled belt to the draped, pointy hat.]
[Leo looks absolutely in awe of it. The work of it from his simple not-the-best sketch to the details of the stitching and embroidery happening in all the right places. Rather than jumping for joy excited like he normally would be, he's awestruck.]
[Maybe it's silly how such a gentle, quiet reaction almost touches Rue more than his normal over-the-top ones, but it makes the moment feel infinitely more powerful.
They nudge the hanger into his hands.] Go ahead and try it on. We can add whatever embellishments we prefer after.
[His whole face feels warmer than usual, and maybe that's because Rue is taking his silly little holiday idea seriously. He wants to do this, wants to be bright and joyous at their party.
(And maybe it'll remind him of his promise to Rue, to be festive and welcoming to Hob despite his thoughts.)
Leo takes the hanger with the suit in his hand, trying to gather it all up so it doesn't drag on the floor.]
Yeah, no uh. Definitely. Trying that on now. [Don't mind him carefully setting it on the nearest chair or coat hanger so he can start working it off with the one hand and get it on. Not like he showed up wearing clothes.]
[Leo's plan is anything but silly to Rue. It's thoughtful and affectionate and true proof of his deep love for his family. Leo wants to make an impact upon each and every one of them.
There's absolutely nothing silly about that. It's love.
Rue beams and while they deeply want to assist to make it easier for Leo and his single hand, they give their son the space to ask for help on his terms. Instead, they will fluff up the hat, waiting to plop it on Leo's head once he's dressed.]
[Even if Rue knows it to be true, they still preen at the compliment. They love being able to create such perfect clothing - and costumes - for their family.]
You are going to do amazingly. Is there anything else you need from me beforehand?
[He practically BEAMS up at them, the red a perfect contrast of his green scales. He feels something warm and bright in his chest spreading to his arms and legs, like something about to burst free. Probably just feelings. Gross.]
Not unless you see anything else that needs to be done.
Rue holds up a claw to motion for him to stand still while they give one final inspection of the suit. One quick lap around him and finally he'll get their nod of approval.]
Santa Leo, you look simply perfect. You have my stamp of approval.
[At their instruction, he stands perfectly still, arm out for a proper inspection. They've done this a few times with his other outfits, and he'll do it again.]
Yessssssss, good perfect. Thanks, Rue, you're always the best.

Do you think? It isn't too much? Or not enough?

But I might allow music, as long as I may approve of every track beforehand.

Sure, but trust me, my music's better than Donnie's dubstep nightcore raps. Mine is all about mood and ambionts.

I have it all ready to go in the backroom, if you'd like to try it on.
