[ Oops. Maybe that wasn't the best way to bring it up? A hand drifts up to his horns; Rue may notice that the green-ish black layer that used to be there has been trimmed away, leaving much healthier blue-green wood underneath. ]

I - well - Casey helped trim my horns the other day? And something gross came out of them.

I was going to say that they were looking so lovely trimmed like this, but whatever do you mean by gross?

[They reach up to gentle touch a talon to his horns, they look perfectly healthy to them.]

I've had many friends with antlers in the past and I know it's somewhat traumatic seeing them shed for the first time. Was it something like that?

Maybe? That's - uh - why I wanted to ask you. Maybe it's totally normal.

[ He tilts his head into that; his horns do indeed seem perfectly healthy now. But he digs out his phone just in case. ]

Do your friends' antlers usually hiss like this?

[ When Hunter cues up the video, Rue gets to see an angry doom blob of green-black ichor hissing at the camera from inside of a jar. ]

[ Uh oh. Hunter's abruptly 20% less chill, himself. ]

It - uh - we don't know? Casey scanned it, and I know he asked Donnie about it, but ... I have no idea.

[oh dammit, that wasn't very parental, rue. calm down mom!!]

I'm sure it'll be just fine, Hunter, do not worry, though I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Has Donnie had a chance to inspect it yet?

[pyrighteous]

You're sure? You don't think it's dangerous, right?

[ Hunter is really hoping for comfort here. ]

I don't think Donnie's looked at it up close yet.

[Come here, sweetie, time for a nice cuddle.]

I would leave it with Donnie to study, just for a few days, to see what he can discover of it, but certainly, I'm not worried in the slightest, my love. It will be just fine. Just - perhaps - do not let it go from that jar. Just to be certain.
